It seems like Nike’s ad campaigns always find a way to entertain me.
I asked you guys if you could find the sample behind LL Cool J’s single “Loungin’ ” featuring Total earlier this week. Much to my dismay no one found the source.
Dwyck is one of my favorite DJ Premier tracks ever. The beat is simple, catchy and knocks all the same. There’s no hook and it actually works better that way. It makes the rhymes stand out more and sets it apart from so many songs from that era. Plus the video had some bad girls in it and there’s nothing wrong with that.
What does it mean to be successful in rap: a slew of classics, multi-platinum sales, the adoration of fans worldwide or perhaps a mixture of each?

I mean the dude helped usher in a rap style for weirdos and backpackers like me. The least I could do is wish him a happy birthday. Quick side note, I was driving around and I found it funny that Angie Martinez wished dude such an enthusiastic happy birthday despite their “past.” Aye I can’t get mad at him. I wish I could say I got with Angie in her prime let alone be a legend in hip-hop.
I can’t recall being a major fan of her music at any part of her career. Not that it’s horrible or anything but it just missed me. If anything I give her props for writing her own stuff.
Her looks are a TOTALLY different story.
I took my Thursday nap as usual just now. I woke up on some “I WANT TO LISTEN TO I GOT TA HAVE IT!!!” which was a really random feeling to say the least. So to satiate my urge I hit up youtube and ran the video back. I’m still listening to it in another tab as I write this.

It’s about time I posted some new music right? I wasn’t going to post anything today until I heard this at 2dp. It’s funny how just one song can get you in the writing mood. This shit knocks and I’m running it back as I type this. I was informed earlier by Gotty at TSS that their EP dropped today on itunes for 3 bucks. Also check out “Mayor” and that interview after the break courtesy of TSS. The group has been performing that song since late ’08 and the mp3 made the rounds a lil over a month ago. This is such lazy blogging but I don’t care. Pac Div is one of my favorite groups right now and I’m spreading the word about their music. It’s the least I could do.
I put their debut album as one to watch out for in ’09 last month. Plus Swiff D (produced both of these songs as well as some other Pac Div bangers) is slept on. He needs to drop a beat tape or something.
