Freakin’ Mirror’s Edge!

Allow me to geek out for a moment about this game.

This game is bound to turn heads and may be one of the best to drop this year. Basically it’s an action game featuring you as a “Runner:” doing various death-defying aerial stunts across dangerously high chasms like roof tops and sewers. From what I can tell you’re doing this because you’re transporting packages and sensitive info about some Gov’t organization. I dunno the story flew over my head. The good part is that it’s not necessary to understand it on order to enjoy the game. What’s most important is the following. The catch is that…

you do all of this from the first person perspective.

When I first heard about this game I was cautiously hyped. I couldn’t believe that a first person action platformer, which this game essentially is, could work. That all changed after I played the demo yesterday.

It was kind of weird at first. Usually first person games are shooters so I wasn’t used to being asked to do so much aerial movement. It was somewhat disorienting at first to be honest. However, once you get a handle of the controls you’ll be pro-hoppin and jump kickin’ busters like it’s nothing. It’s somewhat automated in how you grab/jump on to surfaces ledges (if you ever played the later Prince of Persia games you’ll know what I’m talking about) but it’s not as obvious in it’s hand holding. There’s definitely a learning curve in moving around gracefully. It’s all quite fun and entertaining too.

The game drops November 13 For PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The demo is out NOW for Xbox 360 and PS3 so go download it if you haven’t already. It should be another dope entry in an already crowded holiday season for games. December needs to come around like right now so I can re-up my Gamefly account haha.

Like the video says, this is all in game footage. Meaning that was actually somebody playing the game for the slow haha.
